Traumarama “Mara” is a 12 year old, 15.3hh, bay mare, who came off the track in December holding the title of North America’s winningest active female racehorse. As a war horse, we gave her some extra time off and restarted her in early February. She loves having a job and took to jumping like it was second nature. Despite her extended time on the track, she has had clean, cold legs and has not given us any concerns over lameness.

 

Mara is a fun and forward type of ride, who will never refuse a jump and carry you through anything. She can easily do the 3-3’ job, though she is currently packing an ambitious junior around the 2’6-2’9 courses on and off property with hopes to move up. With both her trainer and rider, she has been schooling in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. Her most recent schooling was at Loch Moy, the same week as the Maryland horse trials.

 

Mara is a kind mare. She is well loved at the barn, especially by my two year old daughter. She is a soft and gentle lady without any vices or “mareish” tendencies, who bonds closely with her people.

Mara has been vetted as a broodmare. She is by Adios Charlie out of a stakes winning Distorted Humor mare and had quite the race career herself, with 23 wins in 91 starts. She was declared the winningest active female horse in 2024 and held that title until her retirement in December 2025. The vet said her anatomy is excellent for breeding and she is fertile. Mara was an absolute doll throughout the process and incredibly well behaved in the stocks.
