FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is Annie’s Thoroughbred Listings? What does it cost?
Annie’s Thoroughbred Listings helps horse owners professionally present and market their horses to reach interested buyers. My goal is to help owners create clear, honest, and appealing listings that highlight each horse’s strengths and help connect horses with appropriate homes. Service pricing are listed on the "Marketing" Page.

Do you buy and sell horses?
No. Annie’s Thoroughbred Listings provides marketing and listing services for owners. I do not purchase horses for resale, and I do not guarantee a sale. My role is to help owners present their horses professionally and reach a wider audience. Horses stay with their owners at their current home (not brought to a separate property for consignment).

What types of horses do you list? Do you only list thoroughbreds?
While I started by helping OTTBs find their next careers, I now help market a variety of horses including thoroughbreds, sport horses, trail horses, and other quality horses looking for their next partner. The focus is on helping owners thoughtfully market horses and connect with suitable buyers. Any breed is welcome. If I don't think I can help you sell your horses, I will let you know!

What information do you need to create a listing?
The more information you can provide, the better. Helpful details include:
-
Horse’s age, breed, height, and location
-
Training history and experience
-
Personality and temperament
-
Strengths and accomplishments
-
Any limitations or quirks
-
Photos and videos
-
Veterinary information (if desired)
Honest information helps attract the right buyers and creates better matches.

Do you take photos or videos?
At this time, owners provide photos and videos unless otherwise arranged. I help review and organize the information so your horse is presented in the best possible way. Depending on your location, I am available to travel to your location and take photos/videos.

Will you talk to potential buyers?
Services vary depending on the listing option selected. Some packages are designed for owners who want help creating the advertisement, while other options include additional support. The details of each service are explained on the Services page.

How long will my horse be listed?
Listing duration depends on the service selected. I recommend keeping listings active long enough to reach the right audience rather than rushing the process.

How long does it take to create a listing?
Most listings can be completed once all information, photos, and videos are available. The timeline depends on how much detail needs to be gathered and organized. Generally, I can turn an ad around in 24-48 hours.

Do you guarantee my horse will sell? how long does it take to sell my horse?
No. The goal is to improve your horse’s presentation and increase exposure, but finding the right buyer depends on many factors including the horse, price, market conditions, and timing. In general, horses are still selling between one day and six weeks. The biggest factor affecting quick sales are prices. Generally, if a horse is not selling, it is priced too high. Other factors affecting sales times including the economy, type of rider level (for example, horses than only advanced riders can ride take longer to sell, etc), injuries/vices/maintenance. I can help you price your horse accordingly.

Why should I use a professional listing service?
A good horse deserves a good first impression. Clear photos, thoughtful descriptions, and accurate information help buyers understand whether a horse may be the right fit before they ever reach out. I have sold hundreds of horses over 11+ years. I know the current market and what grabs people's attention.

Do you recommend a price for my horse?
Pricing is ultimately the owner’s decision, but I can help you consider how your horse is presented and how similar horses are marketed. All service levels include a pricing opinions, except for the Marketplace Listing. I know the current marketplace trends and can help find a price point on your horse where I think it will sell.

What if my horse has quirks or special needs? What if my horse is not a perfect fit for everyone?
That is completely normal. Every horse has strengths, preferences, and limitations. The goal is not to appeal to every buyer — it is to reach the right buyer. Honest disclosure is important. No horse is perfect, and sharing the full picture helps attract buyers who are prepared and interested in that specific horse. I have found many difficult (either from a vetting perspective or riding perspective) horses homes over the years. The key is where/when/how you market the horse. I do not market for kill pens.

What kinds of owners/SELLERs use Annie’s Thoroughbred Listings?
Owners use my services for many different reasons — selling a horse they have loved, finding a new home for a horse whose needs have changed, promoting a horse retiring from one career and starting another, or simply wanting help creating a professional advertisement. I have MANY repeat sellers that I have worked with for YEARS! They are good friends of mine and have resale businesses. I also work with individual owners/amateurs selling their one and only horse. Many of my sellers sell multiple horses through me a year. I work with racing trainers/racetrackers, eventing, dressage, and h/j trainers, foxhunters, trail riders and more!

Where are you located?
There is no brick and mortar location for my business. My location is your location. I have sold horses on the west coast, east coast, Florida, midwest and even Canada!

What is your approach to horse sales? what makes annie's thoroughbreds different?
Selling or rehoming a horse is about more than putting up a listing and waiting for messages. A good match starts with understanding the horse — their personality, experience, strengths, and the type of home where they will thrive.
Annie’s Thoroughbred Listings was built from years of hands-on experience with horses, riders, owners, and the transition from one career to another. Since 2015, I have helped at-risk off-track Thoroughbreds find new opportunities, assisted owners with rehoming, and helped market sport horses and other horses looking for their next partner.

I understand both sides of the process. I know what owners are looking for when they want to find a safe, appropriate home for a horse they care about — and I know what buyers need when they are searching for the right horse.

My approach is simple:
-
Honest representation — highlighting what makes each horse special while being upfront about experience, personality, and expectations.
-
Thoughtful presentation — creating clear, professional listings that help horses stand out and attract the right audience.
-
Horse knowledge — understanding that a horse is more than a height, age, or competition record.
-
The importance of the right match — because the best outcome is not just a sale; it is a successful partnership.
